During our recent “AI for Educators” workshop, teachers from Uzbekistan explored how Generative AI (GenAI) can be used not just to save time, but to ignite imagination in the classroom.
One of the most powerful moments? A story created live during the session—“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”—that turned the concept of simple interest into a magical learning journey.
Here’s the full story that captured hearts and minds during the webinar:
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
It was a bustling day in the magical kingdom of Evergreen, and young Aria was eager to learn the ways of the sorcerer's craft. As the apprentice to the renowned Wizard Arcanus, she had been entrusted with the task of managing the finances of the wizard's tower.
Aria's eyes sparkled with excitement as Wizard Arcanus summoned her to his study. "My dear apprentice," he began, "today, I shall teach you the art of simple interest, a crucial skill for any aspiring sorcerer."
Aria listened intently as the wizard explained the concept. "Simple interest is the amount of money earned on a loan or investment, calculated based on the principal, the interest rate, and the time period." He waved his hand, and a glowing diagram appeared in the air, illustrating the formula.
"But how does this apply to our work in the tower?" Aria asked, her brow furrowed in concentration.

Wizard Arcanus smiled. "Excellent question, my dear. You see, as the caretaker of our finances, you must be able to calculate the interest earned on the gold we invest in various magical ventures. This knowledge will help us make wise decisions and grow our resources."
Aria nodded, her mind racing with the possibilities. "I'm ready to learn, Wizard Arcanus. Please, show me how to use this simple interest formula."
The wizard gestured, and a series of magical calculations appeared before them. "Let's start with a simple example. Suppose we invest 500 gold pieces at an interest rate of 5% per year. How much interest would we earn after 3 years?"
Aria's fingers danced through the air, following the steps of the formula. "Okay, let me think this through. The principal is 500 gold pieces, the interest rate is 5% per year, and the time period is 3 years. So, the simple interest would be..."
She paused, her eyes narrowing in focus. "The simple interest would be 75 gold pieces!"
Wizard Arcanus beamed with pride. "Excellent, Aria! You've grasped the concept perfectly." He waved his hand, and the calculations vanished. "Now, let's try a few more examples to solidify your understanding."
Over the next few hours, Aria immersed herself in a series of increasingly complex financial scenarios, her confidence growing with each successful calculation. She marveled at how the simple interest formula could be applied to various magical investments, from funding enchantments to securing rare ingredients.
As the sun began to set, Wizard Arcanus placed a hand on Aria's shoulder. "You have done exceptionally well, my dear apprentice. I believe you are now ready to handle the financial matters of the tower on your own."
Aria's eyes widened with excitement. "Really? I can't wait to put my new skills to the test!"
The wizard chuckled. "I have no doubt you will excel. Remember, the power of simple interest can open up a world of possibilities for the aspiring sorcerer. Use it wisely, and your magical ventures will thrive."
With a newfound understanding of simple interest, Aria set out to manage the tower's finances, eager to apply her knowledge and contribute to the success of her mentor's magical endeavors.
✨ The Bigger Picture

This story was more than a creative exercise—it was a live demonstration of how GenAI can help teachers:
Turn abstract concepts into engaging narratives
Integrate cross-curricular learning through storytelling
Make mathematics relatable and emotionally engaging
Empower learners with curiosity and imagination
With tools like AI Ready School, educators can now create personalized,
imaginative resources—on the fly. Stories like The Sorcerer’s Apprentice are just the beginning of what’s possible.
Let’s keep reimagining the classroom—one story at a time.
